Basics of the South Beach Diet

There are many diet programs available for you. Some work and others don’t, you just have to pick one which works and think is easy to do. One of best diets for fast weight loss is The South Beach Diet. It is actually a title of a book from Dr. Arthur Agatston, Dr Agatson says that the fewer carbohydrates you take the more effective your metabolism becomes and also improves insulin resistance, which in turn, causes weight loss.

South Beach Diet has 3 phases

Phase 1: In this phase, don’t consume most carbohydrates like fruits, bread, pasta and sugar. By following Phase 1, you can correct how your body reacts to food and by the time you add more carbohydrates in your diet, your body will have already adjusted. Phase 1 lasts up to 2 weeks.

Phase 2: Start adding the prohibited foods in your diet. The idea is re-introduction but with moderation so as you will not overeat them like you did before.

Phase 3: You already control what you eat and can maintain your weight. Eating three apples a day plan means eating an apple before every meal. The fiber in an apple satisifes your cravings and leaves you feeling full.

In addition to eating 3 apples a day, dieters are advised to eat 6 servings of other fruits to reduce intake of calories without feeling hungry. An oatmeal diet helps in weight loss while lowering cholesterol. If you continue having oatmeal a day, after one month, you may resume your normal diet.

Some foods should always be present on any diet. Examples include fruits like avocados, apples and bananas which are rich in fiber. Eating fiber will make you fuller for longer meaning you will eat less which in turn leads to weight loss.

Fresh juices and shakes can also help in weight loss. Making your own fruit juice is advised for there are no additives. Start your morning right by drinking a cup of green tea to facilitate metabolism. Green tea is among the healthiest diet drinks you can take daily. The catechins found in green tea help the drinkers lose weight.
